Anthropic's head of EMEA startups told a room of 250 founders in London that the AI lab is not out to compete with them. Speaking at a 'Claude Founder House' event, she said Anthropic's own success is tied to the startups that build on its models, so it has no interest in moving into their territory.
The executive acknowledged that some founders worry about platform companies expanding into their niches, but she argued that Anthropic's lack of a moat means it must stay focused on the model layer. She stressed that the company's future depends on a thriving ecosystem of startups using its technology, not on building products that would displace them.
The remarks come as Anthropic expands its presence in Europe and courts early-stage companies. The event was part of a broader push to position Claude as a foundation for new businesses, rather than a threat to them.
