Dextr AI, a San Francisco startup founded in July 2025 by Sajid Shariff and Scott Arnold, has emerged from stealth with $6.7 million in seed funding. The round was led by Elevation Capital with participation from Foundation Capital, and it is the company's first institutional financing. Dextr builds AI agents for hotels that handle reservations, guest requests, staff coordination, and other operations.
The startup began with Alfred, an agent for guest messaging and check-ins, then added Daisy, a voice reservations agent. According to founder Sajid Shariff, one large hotel customer now generates $100,000 to $300,000 a month in bookings through the voice agent. Dextr has since expanded into group bookings and staff management, with a goal of connecting agents so that information gathered in one part of a hotel can prompt action elsewhere—for example, a guest declining housekeeping could automatically adjust staff schedules.
Shariff says three things set Dextr apart: the way its agents work together across use cases, its hands-on deployment approach, and how staff interact with the system. Dextr sends engineers to work directly with each hotel to identify where agents fit and to connect them to existing property management systems, including Oracle Hospitality, StayNtouch, and Cloudbeds. Employees can direct the agents by text or voice through a companion called Doss, which Shariff says matters because high turnover makes it hard for hotels to train staff on complicated tools.
Dextr says its agents now handle more than 1 million interactions a month across hundreds of hotels, with customers ranging from a 21-room property to one with 550 rooms. The company reports annual recurring revenue growing 20% to 30% month over month, though it did not disclose hard figures. It plans to use the new funding to hire more deployment engineers, expand integrations, and develop additional agents. The team has grown from three people a year ago to 21.
