Latin American startups raised $1.3 billion in the third quarter of 2026, a 26% increase from the same period last year, according to Crunchbase data. The total was down 9% from the second quarter, but the mix shifted noticeably: late-stage and growth deals accounted for $757 million, up 74% year over year, while seed-stage funding reached $266 million, up 128% from Q2 and 62% year over year.

Mexico has raised $1.52 billion in venture funding across the first three quarters of 2026, about 40.7% more than Brazil's $1.08 billion. That is unusual because Brazil has historically been the region's largest recipient. Endeavor Catalyst's Igor Piquet noted that Mexico's total was concentrated in a few winners, while Brazil retained breadth and led in realized exits. The two largest Q3 deals were not in fintech or the usual hubs: Chile's Black Giant raised $225 million for a lithium project, and Colombia's Erco Energía raised $129 million for solar.

International investors are returning to the region. Endeavor Catalyst's Allen Taylor said U.S. investors 'rediscover' Latin America every five or six years and that another moment is approaching. He said international VCs were more active in Brazil in the first three quarters of 2026 than in 2024 and 2025 combined. Liquidity is improving through acquisitions and secondary transactions rather than IPOs, according to Piquet, who pointed to about 60 private LatAm tech companies that have each raised at least $150 million as a potential IPO pipeline.
