LinkedIn is introducing new verification tools aimed at reducing fake profiles and fabricated work histories. The features allow members to vouch for the work experience of colleagues, adding a layer of social confirmation to employment claims.
Companies will also get more control over accounts that falsely claim to be affiliated with them. This gives employers a direct way to flag or manage profiles that misrepresent their relationship with the organization.
The rollout is part of LinkedIn's broader effort to improve trust on the platform. According to TechCrunch, the tools are designed to make it harder for bad actors to pass off invented credentials as real.
