Meta announced at its Connect developer event that New York Times Cooking is coming to its display-enabled glasses and its wider lineup of AI glasses. The app will gain a "hands-free mode" that pairs with the glasses to deliver audio cues for the dish being prepared, according to Engadget's preview of the feature.
The New York Times worked with Meta to condense lengthy recipe steps into brief audio instructions, preserving the author's expertise while including ingredients and measurements in sequence. For Meta's Ray-Ban Display glasses, each step will appear as a card that users can swipe through as they cook.
The integration is not available yet, but the Times said hands-free mode will roll out "later this fall." The announcement follows an earlier Engadget review that found display glasses less useful for cooking, with recipe steps disappearing too quickly; the new system is designed to address that limitation.
