Roland has introduced a Minions-themed version of its GO:KEYS 3 keyboard, targeting young musicians and fans of the Illumination films. The instrument is bright yellow with Minions artwork and a blue trim, and it includes 32 Minions-related sound variations, including voices of the characters Bob, Kevin, and Stuart.
Under the branding, the keyboard is the standard GO:KEYS 3: 61 keys, portable, battery-powered, and built around Roland's ZEN-Core engine with more than 1,000 sounds and support for Roland Cloud Connect. The Minions edition costs $450, compared with about $385 for the non-branded model, a $65 premium for the design and extra sounds.
The product is part of Roland's GO line, which is aimed at people new to music-making. The company has released sample audio showing the keyboard playing pieces like the Blue Danube with Minions voices, a feature that may appeal more to collectors and gift-givers than to serious players.
