Ford has discontinued the F-150 Lightning, its flagship electric pickup, according to Electrek. The company is now preparing a new generation of pickups for 2027, headlined by a $30,000 EV called the Fathom and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) to take its place.

The Fathom is positioned as a lower-cost electric pickup, while the EREV adds range flexibility. Both models are intended to replace the Lightning in Ford's lineup, though Ford has not yet released full specifications or exact launch dates beyond the 2027 timeframe.

The move marks a strategic shift away from the Lightning's premium positioning toward more affordable and versatile electric truck options.
