Opera has relaunched its Air browser, a deliberately stripped-down desktop browser first introduced in early 2025 as a calmer alternative to the typical web experience. The new version leans further into that positioning with features aimed at reducing distraction and encouraging mindful browsing, rather than chasing engagement.

Among the additions are Air Soundscapes, a built-in set of ambient tracks divided into Focus, Relax, Work, and Ambience moods. Users can also schedule breathing exercises and follow along with neck stretches at chosen intervals. Opera says new wallpapers emphasize open spaces and natural textures, and the browser now includes automatic dark mode.

Air remains free on Windows and macOS, keeping its manual sidebar setup, ad blocker, and free VPN. ChatGPT integration exists but is unchecked by default, preserving the browser's minimalist ethos. The relaunch underscores Opera's bet that a growing number of users will pay attention to a browser that explicitly tries to keep them focused.
